Edgar Montmarte is not a particularly kind man. He is brash, loud, impatient and delivers compliments with one hand and insults you with the other. It's not a surprise to hear he doesn't have many friends — but the few who do stick around he can tolerate greatly, even if he rolls his eyes at just about everything they do. Serving as apprentice minder to Momus means his job as a restaurant critic is particularly apt; Edgar's tendency to blame anyone from the janitor to the pastry chef on the disgusting gazpacho (and have hoards of people agree) is thanks to the deity, although the words thank you have probably never passed his lips since birth. He and his partner (a chef by the name of Anthony) of a record four-months currently live together somewhere on the Lower East side. If Anthony ever grouches about his sudden disappearances and "long work hours", well — Edgar always seems to come up with someone to blame.
